Created: 13 December 2024 Updated: 13 December 2024
The Ecology and Fish data explorer allows users to search, filter and download the Environment Agency's fish and ecology open data.
If you are new to the explorer, please read through the How to use page which contains a step by step guide to help you download the data you are interested in.
If you prefer, there is also a short video which demonstrates how to use the explorer, following changes made in 2022:
When using our data, please make sure you read the supporting documentation, which is available for all datasets on the explorer, and can be accessed from the Documents page.
If you need to download our data in bulk, you can access the zipped files from the Downloads pages.
If you are interested in using the API to download data, please read the FAQ: Ecology And Fish Data API Or Data Explorer – Which Should I Use?
Can’t find the data you need? You can also search on the DSP for other open data sets using key terms you are interested in. A search for ‘Biosys’ (our biological sampling database) or ‘NFPD’ (our National Fish Populations Database) will also display any other related datasets that exist.
If you experience any problems launching the explorer, please clear the cache in your browser before logging a fault. Short guidance on how to clear your cache can be found here.
