We have published a new ‘Risk of flooding from surface water’ dataset for flow direction.

On 31 October we published a new ‘Risk of flooding from surface water’ dataset showing flow direction. 

On 17 September 2025 we published new ‘Risk of flooding from surface water’ datasets showing flood speed and hazard. We have also published a ‘model origin’ layer showing which flood risk models are used in each location.

These datasets are available for download and as data feeds. You can find more information about these layers and access them from the dataset pages listed here: The datasets we publish and how to access them.

On 27 August 2025 we added a layer called ‘Flood Zones plus climate change’ to the Flood Map for Planning service. It shows how the combined extent of Flood Zones 2 and 3 could increase with climate change over the next century.

National Flood and Coastal Erosion Risk information

The Environment Agency publishes national risk information for flooding and coastal erosion. This includes future scenarios accounting for climate change and data relating to development planning.
