8. New formats and schema for RoFRS and RoFSW
Created: 31 October 2024 Updated: 25 March 2025
The Environment Agency has published new national risk information for flooding and coastal erosion. This includes updated versions of some of our existing datasets.
Below we provide detail on the new formats and schema for:
Risk of flooding from rivers and sea (RoFRS)
Risk of flooding from surface water (RoFSW)
Please also read the summary announcement: ‘Data relating to the Environment Agency’s new national flood and coastal erosion risk information’.
If you are a regular user of these datasets, you will need to update your processes. The key things you need to know are:
The data is available via a WMS feed and as a data download.
There are new links for the new versions of datasets. You will need to replace previous links where relevant.
The schema for existing datasets will change. See below for tables displaying the new schema for RoFRS, RoFSW and associated flood depth datasets.

New schema: climate change datasets
We have also published datasets indicating the possible impacts of climate change on future flood and coastal erosion risk.
There are versions of RoFRS and RoFSW, which will follow the same schema as above but with these File Geodatabase Names:
RoFRS_Climate_Change_01_vYYYYMM.gdb
RoFSW_Climate_Change_01_vYYYYMM.gdb
